Empty monastery

Ajahn kasem invited us to come to a parivara.
We will not go, too busy. I need a stamp in my passport, nadya needs to find someone to ordain her. We will probabely join ajahn kasem to visit the abbot of that monasrey. It's a thai with american passport. He needs to do the visarun.

In december a kasem took me to a small monastery where a nun and a monk were living. They left and the monastery is abandoned now. I thought of moving, because it's so nice there. Better kuties, the livingspace wooden, with a lower and an upper part, village close, big trees, 3 big buddhastatues, nice surrounding.

I hope my not-anymore-teacher is still in contact with ajahn kasem, because this would be a perfect place for him.

Back from town again. I have a new stamp from the immigration office in my passport and nadya will ordain with as mae chii with ajahn supan. But she has to stay with him for a month before she can come back to wat suan pa.
ajahn supan mentioned that he will go to spain and germany end of may, and that he heard that I speak spanish and that I should no make plansfor this time, he may need me.
Spanish is no problem, but thai ... I have to work harder on it now.

In immigration a woman, american, came to me to ask where I stay and teach, if I take unexperienced students.
If all people who ask me everytime I go to town show up here, we should renovate some kuties, but it guess nobody of them will ever come.

Today lompoh said that the other ajahn, who asked me some weeks ago to show him the 6th walkingstep because he could only remember 5, called to invite me to his monastery.
See where that leads to ...

Hello, dear Philanyi. Will you please explain the "walking steps?"

Walkingsteps

Start standing, feet close together, hands together in the front, right touches the back of the left hand. Walk about 5 m, then turn, look on the floor ca. 2m in front of youdo not fix eyes.
Always start with the right foot.
Say in mind what you are actually doing. Walk slowly enough to be able to accompany every action of the feet with saying what you are doing in mind.
When you think too much, stopp and stand, say, = thinking, thinking until you stop thinking then continue walking.
Try to be with the foot, the walking at least 80% of the time.
Start with 10 - 15 minutes, increase walking time every day or every couple of days for 5 minutes, depending on how much you practice every day until you can do one hour.
If you have too much pain [in your back for example] stop, stand and note = pain, pain, pain. Do not bend and strech while walkingmeditation.

it would be good if I could see you doing it.

1. Right goes thus, left goes thus.
right = intention to walk,
goes = lifting foot and moving it forwards,
thus = place foot at about one footlength in front,
same with left foot, right again and so forth, 5 m
last step = stopping, stopping, stopping.
When you stand = standing, standing, standing.
Before turning around = intention to turn.
lift right foot a bit and turn it half way round = turning, same with left foot = turning, right foot again = turning, left foot turning. Now you stand in walking direction to walk back the way you came. Sanding = say in your mind standing, standing, standing. Intention to walk, right goes thus, left goes thus.

2. Stepping right, stepping left
or lifting, placing
Stepping = lift foot, start moving while saying s ..., right foot passes left ankle bone with saying ... ing,
right = moving foot a footlength foreward and place foot on the ground, action finished while saying ... ht.

3. Lifting, moving, placing
Lifting = lift foot up to ankle bone hight
Moving = move foot a footlength foreward
Placing = place foot flat on the ground
Right and left in the same manner

4. Lifting heel, lifting, moving, placing
Lifting heel = lift heel
Lifting = lift foot entirely up to ankle bone hight
Moving = move foot a footlength foreward
Placing = place foot flat on the ground
Right and left in the same manner

5. Lifting heel, lifting, moving lowering, placing
Lifting heel = lift heel
Lifting = lift foot entirely up to ankle bone hight
Moving = move foot a footlength foreward
Lowering = lower frontpart of the foot but toes do not yet touch ground
Placing = place foot on the ground
Right and left in the same manner

6. Lifting heel, lifting, moving, lowering, touching, placing.
Lifting heel = lift heel
Lifting = lift foot entirely up to ankle bone hight
Moving = move foot a footlength foreward
Lowering = lower frontpart of the foot but toes do not yet touch ground
touching = toes touch ground
Placing = place foot on the ground
Right and left in the same manner

The stopping, standing, intintion, turning, standing, intention, ... is the same for all walking steps.

When your concentration gets strong and you don't think much while walking try to note "intention" of an action before doing it.

Hope that's understandable and helps.
Let me know if you are practicing it and how it works for you.
